BLUEGRASS GOSPEL FANS! |
|
Well, hello
again Kings Countrymen friends.
It is time for an update to the
annual newsletter.
The past year has seen some
great changes and “happenings” with the band. The Lord has
worked in mysterious ways, and as always the outcomes have
reflected His glory by being both unpredictable and GREAT!
I’ve been tied
up helping my son Brandon with the finishing of his new home.
We finally moved his family in
two days before Christmas – Yippee! So here goes with a looooong
letter.
We pray all the blessing God can offer to our fans and their families and we hope that we’ll see you Lord willing somewhere on the trail!

"HEADIN' FOR THAT CITY" IN 2012 |
|
We still have a few dates open for 2012. Call now to reserve the King’s Countrymen for your special event. Check out our schedule HERE or email me at schultzfam92@yahoo.com

The year began
by saying “good bye” to Rose Johnson, that “little tiny fiddle
player” Rose found a new “bow” and she up and married
him.
They tied the knot April 9th.
What a celebration it was. Many
tears of joy and lots of laughs. Even a couple rubber-band guns
showed up at the wonderful event.
She and the lucky fellow by the
name of John Vincent are now happily married and beginning a
business of repairing stringed instruments in Eau Claire,
Wisconsin.
They both continue to have a band
of their own, and they perform throughout the Wisconsin, Minnesota
area. The Lord filled
that vacant “fiddle spot” for the Kings Countrymen by having Kathy
Krug step into the picture in January.
Kathy was faced right away with
the task of learning 17 new songs for the Kings Countrymen’s new
CD.
Not only did she learn them, but
she mastered them and the CD came out great.
Because of a “rocking” sensation
that was felt in the chair she sat on in the bus as the band
traveled, Lorn was forced to install a brand new chair in the bus
to alleviate the “whining” that kept coming from the back of the
bus as Kathy swayed to and fro as the band traveled the highways.
And Kathy writes as follows; “Hi Folks, I’m Kathy Krug, the newest member of the
band. I started with King’s Countrymen on Jan. 1st, 2011, so I
just completed my 1st year. Let me tell ya, this ministry is not
for sissies!! Even after being in other bands for several years,
we put some miles on the bus this year. Up at 4am sometimes…(well,
I had to do my hair) so we could be at a church in the southern
part of the state by 9am. Another time we got home about 2 am and
back on the road at 8 bells to be at a church at 9--with 2 nursing
homes to follow after that! Of course there was food between…we
won’t starve to death, that’s for sure! But with all
that said, what a blessing it has been for me to be involved with
this fine group of people. Even though we are from different
backgrounds, I think I can safely say we all love and respect each
other, and are all dedicated to bringing the wonderful messages of
God’s great love to all of you. I look forward to another year and
maybe coming to your church--or wherever God sends us! God Bless
you all!
Kathy” Mary, our bass
player, finally had to “fess up” that she actually could drive a
big vehicle – like the bus.
As is true with everything in the
band, you never want to admit you can do anything or indeed you
will be put to work doing it.
So….it has been “happy trails” as
Mary has guided the bus – as a relief driver for Lorn – through
the Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa highways.
Thanks Mary, and you’ll be
getting your “safe driving award” any time now. George, the
guitar player, bass player, dobro player, and traveling bus
mechanic, continues to achieve greatness with new ideas as to how
he can “pester folks” on those long bus trips.
He used to use a rubber band gun
to do his mischief, but now, thanks to Dan’s brother supplying the
blueprints to George, he now has access to a “marshmallow machine
gun”. It’s
just “look out below” with the hope that the next store the band
travels by does not sell marshmallows. Dan finally
“really retired” from the practice of medicine, but he spent the
fall teaching Anatomy and Physiology to the nursing students in
River Falls, Wisconsin.
While not on the road every
morning at 5:30 AM going to River Falls, he continued to spend
time trying to refine
his ability to plunk on the ole
banjo. Old dogs do continue to learn new tricks although Ibuprofen
sure does help to “grease up” those old stiff fingers sometimes. Lorn continues
to try to “herd this group of cats”.
The band is absolutely sure that
it was the stress of trying to keep everyone in line that led to
the need for him having to have not one, but two coronary stents
placed in his heart over the year.
Lorn continues to do a masterful
job of directing the band and keeping the Buffalo River Valley
Gospel Bluegrass Festival afloat during this time of economic
distress.
He never slows down, and with the
new heart stints, his work day has jumped from 12 hour days to 18
hour days. Kristi tries her best to slow him down ---- but to no
avail. |

NEW CDs! |
|
Introducing the King’s Countrymen's newest CD – “Springtime In Heaven” Shannon Fout
again provided superb recording support and the CD turned out to
be a wonderful message and testimony for our Lord.
Pictures for the CD cover were
again taken by Denise Marsolek of We pray for Gods will be our leader in this effort. We hope the songs we pick and use will honor & glorify Him! Please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for this project. Contact us HERE to order the new CD! |

14th ANNUAL BUFFALO RIVER VALLEY BLUEGRASS GOSPEL FESTIVAL |
|
This year (2012) brings our 14th annual festival. WOW, where has the time gone???
The Buffalo River Valley Gospel
Bluegrass Festival will be held July 27 - 29, 2012 at Lorn and
Kristi’s Farm in Mondovi, Wisconsin.
Bands are being invited, and
the theme as always will be to have the festival be a family
oriented occasion with our Lord and Savior as the “leader of the
affair”. New things that will be seen at the festival will
include two new speaker stands that really have the appearance
of “out houses”.
There will probably be a need
to put a guard up in front of the door to make sure that the
speaker stands are not mistaken for uses for other than for what
they were designed for. HA.
We are in the process of
updating the website for the festival
too.
So check back soon to see who
all will be coming this year.
We are still trying to learn
this website stuff as Rosie was our web-master .
Now between Dan, Lorn & Kristi,
we are trying to get all this web stuff planted in these old
brains.
Many great groups lined up for this coming year. Click HERE for more info. Sorry folks, we are sold out of the electric spots for this year. We still have plenty of camping spots though so come on in and enjoy the weekend. We would ask that you pray for our festival and all the performers as they travel. If you would care to help us out with advertising, we could send you fliers and such to give out to your friends, your church or post around your area for folks to see. Just contact us and we’d be very happy to send you a bunch. Thanks again for all your support, be it prayers or other help, we couldn’t do this without all of your support behind us! See our Festival Gallery for many pictures of the performers, audience, and other activities from former festivals. Again we are working on updating these picture so please forgive us for the long time it's taking us --- remember --- we are old! See you next year!!! |

Looking Ahead To The New Year |
|
The Kings
Countrymen Band is looking forward to a great 2012, and as always
the band is hopeful that if you happen to see us playing some-
where – that you will drop in and help us praise the Lord with
stringed music, laughter, and a song .
You can find us on our web site
at w.w.w.kingscountrymen.com Once again we
want to thank everyone for all the great support you have all
shown us this past year and before.
We look forward to serving our
Lord again this year and seeing many of you along the way. I thank
Dan for getting most of this letter put together .
We asked all the members of the
band to write a little note but as you see Kathy was the only one
who took the time --- this time.
Hope your Christmas was great and your New
Year a very blessed one!
